A Collaborative Approach to Wellness Care

Dr. Rachel Hovey
Chiropractor + Owner
For my entire life, I’ve known that God designed me to help people. During my undergraduate education at Hamline University, I planned on becoming a Physical Therapist (PT) after completing my degrees in Biology and Psychology. However, my life took a different direction when I was injured as a collegiate athlete, and my coach recommended that I see a chiropractor. From that point on, I was blown away by the world of chiropractic care. Just a couple of months before I was supposed to start PT school, I made a last-minute change and enrolled at Northwestern Health Sciences University to pursue my Doctorate of Chiropractic instead!

I graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern in 2014 with a passion for serving families, children, and pregnant mothers! I am constantly learning and growing through continuing education to provide the best care possible for our patients. I am Webster certified and have become a specialist in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), Epic Pediatrics, and the Pediatric Experience. My passion is to help families live a lifestyle of wholeness and health, free from medications and surgeries.
I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Zach, since 2014. We had our son, ZJ, in 2017 and our daughter, Palmer, in 2021. We also have a red Labrador named Jaxon! We absolutely love traveling and exploring the world with our family and friends.

Dr. Sonia Schwert
Chiropractor
I was born in Malaysia and spent my early years between Malaysia and Singapore. I always had a strong interest in science and a passion for helping others, which guided me toward a career in healthcare. My introduction to chiropractic care came when my father suffered a severe tailbone injury, and I witnessed his remarkable recovery through chiropractic adjustments. This experience inspired me to move to the United States at 18 years old to pursue my chiropractic education.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University. During my studies, I developed a deep passion for caring for pregnant women, infants, and children, which led me to specialize in perinatal care. I’m Webster certified and continue my education through the ICPA and Pediatric Experience, embracing a natural, holistic approach to health that supports the body’s innate ability to heal and restore balance.
In 2019, I married my college biology lab partner, Steven. We welcomed our first son, Jordan, in 2020 and our second son, Harrison, in 2023. Our little family keeps me busy but in my free time, I enjoy staying active, cooking, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Dr. Mason Clark
chiropractor
I’ve been going to a chiropractor since I was a baby — and honestly, I have my parents to thank for that. Growing up with chiropractic care as just a normal part of life made it feel natural to eventually pursue it as a career. I’ve always loved helping people and genuinely enjoy getting to know every single person who walks through the door. It really is the best job.
I studied Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan, then moved to the United States and graduated with my Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2024. Since then, I have completed my Webster certification to better support the mamas that I treat. I’m also trained in rehabilitation principles including McKenzie, SFMA, and DNS, and am a certified personal trainer.

I love working with people of all ages — because everyone deserves to feel their best, whether they’ve been alive for one day or eighty years. But my favorite patients are kids. Seeing the impact chiropractic care can make on a little one is something special, and they keep things pretty entertaining too.
Outside the office you’ll probably find me on the golf course, on a snowboard, watching sports, or hunting down a great patio. I love reading, spending time with friends, and hanging out with my golden retriever, Butter, and my husband, Ryan. Fun facts: I’m a twin, originally from a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada, a serious coffee lover, and I have never once had a brain freeze.

Dr. Jaela O’Brien
Chiropractor
I’ve always been into movement, sports, and just feeling good in your body. Growing up in athletics, I saw a lot of people push through pain or rely on quick fixes—and it never really sat right with me. I knew there had to be a better, more long-term way to actually fix the problem instead of just covering it up.

That’s what led me to chiropractic. I love that it looks at the body as a whole and focuses on getting to the root cause, not just chasing symptoms. That mindset completely changed how I view health, and it’s what drives how I care for my patients.
I earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2026 and had the opportunity to complete my internship here at Wellhouse Chiropractic. During that time, I really connected with the clinic’s welcoming, family-oriented environment and found a passion for working with both families and athletes.
My goal is to make care feel comfortable, real, and actually helpful. I want patients to understand their bodies, feel confident in their care, and have a plan that keeps them doing what they love—not just getting by. Outside of the office, I’m either golfing, up north at my cabin fishing, or outside doing something. If I’m not, I’m probably watching football, hockey, or golf —and there’s a good chance it’s for fantasy. I also love traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my fiancé, Jake, and our aussiedoodle, Banks.

Jammie Shafer

Hi! My name is Jammie. I’m a homebody who loves adventure, whether that’s spending time with a friend or traveling to a new place. My greatest adventure has been raising four kids with my husband. We have been married since 2004 and have four children — two boys and two girls — spanning both college and high school years.

I was introduced to chiropractic care when we were newly married and part of a small group that included a chiropractor. As our family grew, chiropractic care became an important support for me through pregnancy and postpartum.
What I love most about being part of Wellhouse Chiropractic is the amazing staff and the welcoming, supportive environment they create. I look forward to getting to know the community they’ve created, learning about our patients’ lives, and being a source of encouragement for all who come through our doors.
Outside of work, I love traveling, reading, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. I’m excited to continue growing my understanding of chiropractic care and holistic health, and how it can support people at every stage of life.

Kendra Simmer
Clinic Coordinator
Born and raised in Alaska, I ventured to Minnesota for college, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Bethel University. It was there that I met my husband, Colton—who also happens to be Dr. Rachel’s cousin! We got married in June 2021, and welcomed our daughter, Jo, in January 2025.

After being introduced to chiropractic care through Dr. Rachel, I quickly discovered how essential it is for maintaining nervous system health, preventing illness, and promoting long-term wellness. I had never visited a chiropractor before, and now I often wonder how different my own health might have been had I been adjusted since birth!
In addition to my work at Wellhouse Chiropractic, I am also a part-time athletic trainer for Twin Cities Orthopedics, covering high school sports events when I am able. I have a growing passion for chiropractic that I cannot wait to share with you as you get started on your journey to better health!
